Barcelona Tapas is a favorite at Puerto Vallarta for its amazing view of Banderas Bay and the lovely cool breeze of the sea. The restaurant is situated on the roof top, which is also where fireworks display are often lit. While this may sound as if I’m describing a romantic place, Barcelona Tapas is actually a family friendly venue with lots of tables and diners every night. The ambience here is somewhat like a relaxed party atmosphere, and not really designed to be romantic. At best, this place is perfect for dining with group of friends, celebrating someone’s milestones and reunions.
Food here is of the highest quality and mostly made of local ingredients. The servings are large and the price remains reasonable in spite the quantity. Order the Spanish tapas with a side order of garlic potatoes, it’s one of their best sellers. Also sample their paella, the seafood kind, if possible, because it’s really rich and flavorful.
Every guests is given a batch of free appetizers that go with delicious bread which is freshly baked from the restaurant’s oven. The menu usually offers a six-course meal, complete with salad or soup and even down to the desserts like ice creams, creme brulee, fried bananas and soft coconut.
If the roofdeck gets a bit crowded, you can choose to dine a floor down, at the poolside. Now, this is where you can have your romantic dinner two and propose to the woman of your dreams.
There is also an air conditioned area for those who want to dine while having business meetings and other indoor functions.
Because the place is usually packed, it’s best to make reservations ahead of time. Service here is always best and the staff and waiters are always accommodating and attentive.
